The St. Petersburg Slugger | 59.07

This week's news from Mother Russia

The Moscow Thunder Bears have made the following roster moves

Reliever Derry "Ice Cold" Vacher was signed after last spending time in the Vancouver Mounties organization. Vacher hopes to strengthen a bullpen that has been shaky as of late, especially in 1-run games this season. In a corresponding move, Su-Yeong Pak was designated for assignment and placed on waivers.
Vacher steps into the closer role for Moscow following the release of Pak. Sacit Celebi has been assigned to the AAA Bloemfontein Cats after clearing waivers.

Moscow went 3-4 over the last seven games, dropping two games to Athens and taking two out of three from the World Champion London Monarchs.

Moscow 4 - London 3 - At home, playing before a crowd of 19,505, all eyes were on the rubber match with the World Champs. Moscow struck first in the bottom of the 2nd inning after Stan Seymour hit a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Frank Lee. Moscow added another run in the bottom of the 3rd inning after Biao Li singled to center, scoring Maximilian Nielsson.
Fast forward to the bottom of the 6th, where Moscow added to their lead again with a run-scoring double by catcher Johan Jorgensson.
Leading 3-0 in the top of the ninth, the wheels came off for the Thunder Bears as John Olson gave up a single and two home runs to the first three batters he faced. Manager Brencis Dashevsky decided to stick with Olson despite the blown save, and he was able to retire the next three batters without surrendering another hit but the damage was done.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 10th inning when, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, London intentionally walked Yoshitoki Goto to load the bases. Frank Lee stepped up to the plate for Moscow and, on a 0-0 count, hit a flyball to centerfield deep enough for the runner to tag from third, giving the Thunder Bears a much-needed walk-off win to take the series. Moscow is now 4-2 on the season against the Monarchs.
They travel on the road to Jerusalem for a three-game series against the division-leading Hebrew Hammers before returning home to host the Johannesburg Gold.
