Four games produce three wins
Jul 7 v Mumbai W 6-4
Jul 11 @ Baghdad L 2-11
Jul 12 @ Baghdad W 9-4
Jul 13 @ Baghdad W 11-3

It was a short slate of games this week due to the All-Star festivities, but it was a successful week for the Red Crescents. We had four players selected to the UMEBA All Star game, Diesel “All-Star” Dave lived up to his nickname and slugged a 2-run homer while Kevin Morales struckout the only two batters he faced. Umar “All-Star Jr” Doger was selected to his first senior All Star game but thanks to his injury could just make a brief appearance in the pre-game ceremonies, waving to the fans, meanwhile Masaki Sato’s mood darkened as he sat on the bench all game. We also had three players selected to the UMEBA All-Star Futures game, 18-yr-old reliever Siua Hooheno pitched the first innings while top middle infield prospect Jouo Rovanpera only had one hit from five AB’s but it was a 3-run homer, 17-yr-old Kilipaki Lugini, the UMEBA’s 95th ranked prospect, sat on the bench all game.

In the final UMEBA game before the break Riyadh managed to round out their homestand with a win over BANC division leaders, mainly thanks to a five run first innings, which meant we won the series against the Metro Stars 2-1. After the break I don’t think we were really ready to resume playing as we took a proper beating off bottom side Baghdad, Terrance Kelly gave up five runs in just over four innings of work in his second ever UMEBA start. However, we recovered to finish the week with two comfortable wins over the Kings including a 9-4 win in which Roy MacGugan set a Riyadh record by driving in seven of the nine runs with a Grand Slam and a 3-run homer. In the week’s final game Romeu Tameiro pitched only Riyadh’s second ever complete game, throwing 96 pitches to notch his fifth win of 2049 ( Jose Lima threw the only other one on May 22 this year, only 8.1 innings & 92 pitches as he gave up a bottom of the ninth walk-off home run ton Beirut as they won 4-1)
