Riyadh 11-13 on the month with two games left in the season

September hasn’t saved Riyadh’s season by any means, but it has made it a bit more palatable. For the third week in a row, the Red Crescents have won three games, and now with just two games left in the 2047 season they have a chance of being .500 for the month, the first time that would have happened this year. We now have games at the Prince’s Palace left against Beirut & Baghdad, two of the three sides still fighting for the BURT wildcard slot. So, we have then a chance to be king makers in the wildcard race, but in all honesty, we’ll probably just get trampled all over like we have virtually all season.

The dispute between the boarder agencies was finally resolved and Chris Glass finally got his UMEBA cup of coffee. He didn’t do too well when he played for Cairo as a Rule 5 draftee but in his two games for Riyadh, he went 2-7 with two RBI and a walk. A player who’s definitely failed his audition is young Burt Davies, he’s a fantastic shortstop with the glove (+18.2 ZR), but is unfortunately completely useless with a bat at UMEBA level, currently on a 1-31 (.032) streak. He’ll be back in Port Elizabeth next season. Jose Montano is back off the IL and will start the last two games at SS while Grady Fern, back last week from the IL, will return as the starting 2B. The power bats in general went silent last week and we didn’t manage to hit a single homer in the week’s seven games.

Ricardo Quadrado took the win against Jerusalem on September 23rd, his fourth straight win since returning to the rotation. He now leads the Red Crescents with nine wins. Orlando Pena, signed in July after Twin Cities released him, now has 11 appearances out of the Riyadh bullpen, posting one save and no decisions. He has been a bit wayward at times, walking 10 batters in 10 IP but he’s kept his ERA down to 2.61.
