Riyadh does at least pass 50 wins

Despite the league putting a block on all roster changes and preventing movement between the affiliate teams, Riyadh actually turned in a winning week, abet in a reduced five game week. Probably the real disappointment was that despite Tripoli’s recent free fall, the Red Crescents were unable to win more than one game against them and in fact we pretty much buried in their two losses. Riyadh did however win the first two games of the final series against Manama leaving the season series between the two teams tied at 16-16 with the final game against the Pearls to come at the start of next week.

That game at Manama will be the final away game of 2047 for Riyadh with their record currently standing at 23-57. After that we have eight home games to try and shore up the finances a bit, we are currently almost $7.5 million in the hole, and our revenue for the season is predicted to be around $53 million so it’s more than likely that I won’t be given enough budget to even have a payroll up to the league’s salary cap. Another nail in the not-so developing expansion franchise.

The South Guam Saints (A Ball) wrapped up their final two games to conclude our final minor league games. They won both, behind pitchers that spent time during 2047 in Rookie Ball. The 20-year-old Danish pitcher, Nickolaj Hedhoft, selected in the third round of the 2047 draft pitched into the seventh innings, allowing three hits, one run and no walks while striking out five batters. That improves his Saints record to 2-0 with a 1.83 ERA, he has a 22/3 K/BB in three starts. Add to that his nine starts in Taipei where he went 6-2 and it makes an impressive rookie pro debut. Meanwhile 18-yr-old Vatican City lad, 2046 3rd rounder, Alba Gallino made his 18th start in A ball this season. He’s struggled a little this year in South Guam and even spent a while demoted back to Taipei, but he went eight innings only allowing four hits, one run, no walks and struck out eight. The win squared his record at 5-5 with a 4.76 ERA and 85 K’s (7.9 K/9). In his four starts in Taipei when he was demoted, he went 3-1 with a 0.95 ERA and 0.64 WHIP. He only allowed three runs there in 28 innings pitched.

My record against you is baffling and probably the reason we miss the postseason

Cairo suffered another financial blow this week. Despite winning at least 13 more games than last year (66 wins with 7 to play vs 53 in 2046), fan loyalty just dropped from "good" to "above average". Still, we'll finish in the black this year.
