Cairo Weekly In-Season Report 26 (2055.29)

With 8 days remaining in the 2055 season, the Cairo Pharaohs held a half game lead on the London Monarchs for the second and final playoff spot. London was attempting to make the playoffs for the 8th time in team history, hoping to earn a second straight GBC championship. Cairo was attempting to hold off the defending champs and earn their first ever playoff berth. London had 7 games remaining, while Cairo had eight games to play.

9/22:
London at Jerusalem: The Hebrew Hammers scored two in the 1st and got exceptional pitching throughout the game, winning 3-1.

Cairo at São Paulo: The Pharaohs never really got started in this one. The Pilots scored early and often winning 7-2.

Cairo remained .5 in front.

9/23:
London at Tokyo: Mauro Felman hit his 40th home run of the season to lead the Monarchs to a 4-0 win.

Cairo at Buenos Aires: Nacho Méndez hit two home runs and a double as the Pharaohs steamrolled the Brisas 12-4.


Cairo remained .5 in front.

9/24:
London at Tokyo: The Pearls secured the victory with a 3 run 7th, with a final score of 4-0.

Cairo at Buenos Aires: The Pharaohs scored 5 runs in the first 4 innings and cruised to a 5-1 victory.

Cairo moved to 1.5 ahead of London

9/25:
London at Tokyo: This was a wild game featuring 7 home runs. The Monarchs won 12-9.

Cairo at Buenos Aires: An exciting, back and forth game, ended in a walk-off home run by Odemar Lock to give the Brisas a 6-5 win.


London pulled back within .5.

9/26:
Cairo at Tokyo: The Pharaohs took advantage of London’s off-day with a 14 run, 22 hit effort, winning 14-4.

Cairo moved to 1 game in front.

9/27:
London at Buenos Aires: The Monarchs were a force in this one, winning 9-0.

Cairo at Tokyo: Fueled by a 3 run home run off the bat of Santiago Durán, the Pharaohs won 4-2.

Cairo remained 1 game in front.

9/28:
London at Buenos Aires: The Monarchs relied on 4 hits by Joshua Koka and a home run by Emile Ollier to win 5-3.

Cairo at Tokyo: The Pearls lead 6-1 after 7 innings, but Cairo sent 14 men to the plate as they scored 9 runs in the 8th and won the game 10-7.

Cairo remained 1 game in front.

9/29: Final day of the regular season
London at Buenos Aires: With London needing a win to have any chance, they fell behind 3-1 in the 1st and never recovered. The Brisas won 9-2.

Cairo at Tokyo: The Pharaohs poured it on as the were determined to guarantee a spot in the playoffs. Cairo won the game 9-6.

Cairo secured the playoff spot with a 2 game lead over London as the regular season came to a close.

Fans back in Cairo flooded the streets and celebrated king into the night. For the first time ever, they will watch their beloved Pharaohs in the playoffs.
