Cairo Weekly In-Season Report 21 (2055.24)

The Pharaohs went 3-4 on the field this week and fell back to 9 games behind Athens. They ran into a Jerusalem team that seems to be finding itself and struggled against Sao Paulo. They have one more game coming up against the Pilots and a series against Buenos Aries before starting an important 6 game stretch against London and Athens. It will be the final series against London this season and the penultimate series against Athens. A good showing in those games could be big for Cairo.

The Pharaohs are currently 75-55, 20 games over .500. They are 10 wins from setting a new franchise record for wins in a season. (They won 84 in 2051 and 2053.) With 32 games remaining, they can set that record winning only 31% of their remaining games. That is almost certain to happen. Based on the way things are going, it will take a lot more than 85 wins to secure their first playoff spot. That is their true goal. Since 2052, the second place team has had an average of about 91 wins. To reach that total, the Pharaohs need to win half of their remaining games. I believe they likely need to do a little better than that to hold off London. It should be an interesting race to the finish as we approach the final month of the regular season.
