After struggling on the field for the last month or so, the Pharaohs had a much needed week in which they played excellent baseball. Cairo went 5-1, out scoring their opponents 41-23. Ramiro Hernández hit .500 for the week with 3 HR. Interestingly, Brynjar Nerdal had his best week of the season as news of his imminent departure from the starting lineup surfaced. He hit.450 and drove in 4 runs during the week.
Earlier this season, EwungaGoiba Ghera was brought up in order to help the pitching staff. He has not provided much help lately. Ghera has an ERA of 11.66 in his last 6 outings. There is likely to be a move made that sends Ghera back to Pretoria very soon. The current speculation is that he will be replaced by a position player instead of a pitcher. The top candidate seems to be Kwan-uk Chong, a 28-year old infielder who is much better with the bat than with the glove.
