Pharaohs Sign New Catcher
Ruíz Replaces All Star Diesel

The Pharaohs wasted no time in solving one of their most pressing problems – replacing Diesel ‘All Star’ Dave behind the plate. As we all know Dave opted for free agency rather than trying to negotiate a Pharaoh extension.
So, . . . 28-year-old António Ruíz will don the tools of ignorance for Cairo this season. Ruíz has been in the BBA since 2042 and accumulated a lifetime batting average of .252. He has reasonable power and rarely strikes out. He is a slow runner as most catchers tend to be. Behind the plate his work is outstanding. The pitchers will love having him there.
With Ed Cooper as backup, catching defense will be a Pharaoh strong point. The team will miss Dave’s home runs, but Ruíz should hit for a better average and he has good power to the gaps. And the club treasurer will be much happier distributing Ruĺz's paycheck - he makes $3.0 million per year vs. Dave's $12.5 million
Here's a look at the two of them on the BBA/UMEBA Scouting Combine Player Comparator:
That’s the free agent news for now. Stay tuned to this station for further updates.
