Three weeks go by -- Win 8 lose 8; Hhhmmm, is mediocrity sneaking up on the Pharaohs?.
  • Week One - Sweep three at Tripoli (the team some think we might catch for 4th place) then get swept at Athens
  • Week Two - Take two of three from Bucharest in their yard. (WOW!)
  • week Three - Win two of three more from Tripoli (3½ games behind them now); Diesel Dave named MVP at All Star Game!!
Diesel Dave Lives Up to his Nickname – The Diesel started out hot this year but has cooled off significantly lately. Still, he managed to get the All Star Game start behind the plate. He was two for two including a two-run homer in a losing effort. Pharaoh fans were nonplussed on hearing the news; DD has already said he won’t be seen in a Pharaoh uniform after this year. He’s taking his two-year haul of $24,575,000 to free agency come year end.

Christmas (Noël) Every Day – Happy Bastille Day to Frenchman Michel Noël. Noël is showing the world his .291 average a few oceans away in Hawaii last year was no fluke. In fact, maybe he’s even better than that. Right now he’s hitting .337 with 17 stolen bases, a +4.6 zone rating in center field, and a 3.2 WAR. The All Star had a glorious day back on June 1st when he recorded a cycle while going six for six. He WILL be back next year and has a player option for 2049.

Roster Change – Rule five draftee and backup catcher Chris Glass was just given his walking papers. His .186 batting average wasn’t cutting it. So he heads back to Riyadh – from one cellar to another. Taking Glass’s place will be Ed Cooper who signed a minor league deal upgradable to an $800K salary if promoted. He had cups of coffee with Boise and New Orleans in the BBA over the past few seasons.

Prospect Watch – First round draft pick Han-i Kim was assigned to AA Chiriqui to start his professional career. He hasn’t been overwhelmed there and, in fact, he may see AAA duty before year end. In his first six starts, he stands at 2-2 with a nice 3.05 ERA and 40 strikeouts vs just 14 walks.

That’s a wrap.
