Cairo Weekly In-Season Report 9 (2055.12)

Cairo played dominant baseball most of this week and pulled ahead of the pack a bit. The Pharaohs won 5 of 6 games, our scoring their opponents by 31 runs.

The only pitcher to lose a game this week was Grigore Balas who has struggled mightily lately. He actually pitched better in the loss against Jerusalem, but it was the 4th time in his last 5 games in which he allowed at least 4 runs.

Nacho Mendez (.500, 7 RBI), Antonio Roman (.370, 2 HR, 9 RBI), and Ramiro Hernandez (.500, 1 HR, 5 RBI) lead the way on offense.

Now that we are two months into the season, I want to take a look at how some Cairo players are faring compared to the league.

Batting Average: Nacho Mendez leads the GBC at .354 and Blair Peyton is second in the league at .339.

Mendez is 3rd in the league in OPS at .990.

Peyton is tied for 2nd in WAR with 2.7. Mendez is 4th with 2.4.


Peyton leads the league in hits with 80. Mendez and Antonio Roman are tied for 4th with 68.

Roman leads the league in doubles with 23. Ramiro Hernandez is 3rd with 19.

Peyton leads the league with 7 triples.

Santiago Duran is 5th in doubles with 16 and 2nd in RBI with 45.

The injured Guruyavur Vashisth is currently 3rd in ERA at 2.45 but will likely fall out of the leaderboards bwith all the time he will miss. He also has the 3rd lowest WHIP in the GBC at 1.11.

Antonio Ramirez is 4rd in the league with 65 strikeouts and 4th with 9.00 K/9.

As a team, the Pharaohs lead the league in both runs scored per game (5.4) and runs allowed per game (4.0).

As the calendar turns to July, the team will try to continue their solid play in an attemp to earn a playoff spot.
