SAO @ BUA
Game 1 – SAO 0 BUA 1
An early RBI-single in the 1st from Cesar Torres is enough to see the Brisas through a difficult first game of the series, with both teams accounting for just one extra base hit between them. Starter Ferede Keohi strikes out 5 and gives up just 4 hits in 5.2 innings.

Game 2 – SAO 6 BUA 5
Despite two homers from Roy MacGugan, errors on defense cost the Brisas in a disappointing defeat. One is charged to starter Enrique Lopez, who is pulled after just 3.2 innings – he is charged with the loss, and sits on 0-2 so far this season, with a 4.15 ERA.

Game 3 – SAO 2 BUA 7
Multi-RBI days for Enrique Mendoza and Isacco Aglietti secure the win for the Brisas, with Mendoza scoring his first extra base hit as a Brisa. Every Brisa is scored with at least one hit, apart from Chad Edwards.

Game 4 – SAO 6 BUA 4
It’s a split series as starter Juan Guzman gives up 5 runs in just 3.2 innings to set the Pilots on their way. A first home run for Mark Moon is not enough to overcome the margin, where former Brisa Jeremy Donahue is scored with the win.

LON @ BUA
Game 1 – LON 0 BUA 2
A brilliant start for Richard Balgera, who goes 7.2 innings and gives up just 3 hits. Both RBIs ceom from the bat of Mark Moon, who goes 2-3 with a single and a double - it’s only his second extra base hit of the season.

Game 2 – LON 1 BUA 0
A game of low offense, with just 11 hits between the two teams, 7-4 in favour of the Monarchs. Catcher Xiao-gang Peng goes 2-3 to take his AVG above .400, as he continues to give the Brisas a headache over who should start as catcher going forward. Ferede Keohi goes six scoreless innings, as he makes it back-to-back games without giving up a run.

Game 3 – LON 3 BUA 5

A bases-clearing triple from CF Andrew MacColl flips the game on its head in the 8th, as the Brisas score 4 in the inning to overturn a 3-1 deficit. Closer Jose Castro picks up his 10th save of the season, as he’s pitching to a 1.38 ERA.

The Week in Review
It’s a fourth winning week in a row for the Brisas, who continue their solid start to the season and are now level with the faltering Sydney Sharks. The Brisas are currently riding off the back of their defense and pitching, with their staff now ranking amongst the top teams in the league. Their offense meanwhile seems to be unable to drive in runs, ranking 7th in the league. This is in spite of ranking slightly better in the likes of AVG and OBP.

GM Swain is now starting to explore the market for bigger bats, and is thought to be consulting any options that are available. Left-handed hitting woes look to be rearing their head again, with the likes of Mark Moon and Isacco Aglietti struggling to perform, and rumours abound that another outfielder, Chad Edwards, will be the first player to be optioned in the quest for better left-handed hitting. Third base is also thought to be under the microscope, with Carl Eassson struggling in recent games.

It’s believed other players who have performed well in limited time to date are now being considered for more time, notably Enrique Hernandez. One of the reasons he was signed was his ability to play any position across the field apart from CF, and with his slashline looking very strong, he will likely see himself being moved around in the hope of catching this lightning in a bottle.

Next week will be a big week for the Brisas, who face off competition at both ends of the league. A home-stand against Tokyo is followed up by an away trip to current leaders Sydney, where the Brisas will be looking to perform better than the 3-1 series defeat earlier in the season.
