JER @ BUA
Game 1 – JER 6 BUA 9
The Brisas pile on the runs early in a game with plenty of offense from both sides. César Torres goes 3-4 with 3 RBIs to maintain his impressive season, while starter Richard Balgera gets away with giving up 6 runs in his 5.2 innings to secure the win.

Game 2 – JER 4 BUA 1
Bani Marita’s audition for a role in the starting rotation next season does not go according to plan, as he gives up 9 hits and 4 runs in just 4.2 innings of play.

Game 3 – JER 0 BUA 1
Darren Asseldonk puts up a stunning complete game shutout, striking out 6 and giving up just 4 hits to secure the series win for the Brisas. The only score comes in the 6th off a double from shortstop Benjamin Chapman, who is determined to play his way into Swain’s 2057 plans after a terrible first half of the season.

SAO @ BUA

Game 1 – SAO 1 BUA 6
Torres goes 3-4 yet again with two doubles and a home run to secure an impressive win in the first game of a South American rivalry series. Starter António Ramriez goes 7.0 innings, giving up just 4 hits and one run to bring his ERA back under the 3.00 mark.

Game 2 – SAO 1 BUA 0
Not a game for the ages as both teams play out an ugly affair. Marvin Winston gives up just 5 hits through 8.0 innings of work, but the offense only puts up 3 hits all game.

Game 3 – SAO 1 BUA 2 (10)

A first extra-innings victory of the Swain era, with a 2-out pinch-hit single in the bottom of the 10th from September call-up Barry O’Quinn driving home Gene Meade. Richard Balgera atones for his previous start by striking out 9 in 8.0 innings.

Game 4 – SAO 2 BUA 6

Backup catcher Zach Reid’s 2nd home run of the season helps the Brisas secure another impressive series win, helped along by multi-hit days for Roberto Aguilar, Talbot Purcell and Benjamin Chapman. Bani Marita strikes out 6 in 5.2 innings in another audition start, though sources are saying it may not be enough to convince Swain to take up his 2057 option worth $3.6 million.

The week in review
Once again, a better week on the field for the Brisas, who go 5-2 including going 2-1 over the 2nd-place Hebrew Hammers to cut the deficit for making the postseason to 7 games. César Torres continues to inspire the Brisas offense with another big week, with rumours abound that GM Swain is looking to bring the Salvadoran back for another year in 2057 - an extension is already believed to have been tabled.

One player who may not be coming back for 2057 is #2 starter Marvin Winston, who is believed to have U-turned on the idea of extending with the Brisas. GM Swain said of the matter, “Unfortunately, Marvin informed us during the week of his desire to test free agency in the off-season. I don’t know where the change of heart has come from, I don’t know if someone has been getting in his ear, but it looks like we may have to fight a little bit harder to bring him back.”

Along with the news of Darren Asseldonk’s impending free agency, Swain is believed to have encouraged Coach Inkster to explore the pitching options at his disposal to see where the team stands for 2057. This could provide a stay of execution for the likes of Richard Balgera, who had a solid start against Sao Paulo during the week, and may also hasten the promotion of Evgeny Daibov, who continues to pitch well in the ABA.
