Two winning Sims in a row with this one which shocked even Brisas management given the slate the team had before them this past week. The team landed in London on the 20th for a four-game series with the #2 team in the league. Then they caught a red eye (or green eye?) to Sydney for a 3-game set. Turn around and they went 4-3, tied the series with the Monarchs and won a series against the Sharks. Not easy.

@ London 11-6 W

A long road swing for the Brisas that included two of the three teams atop the league. The pitching and defense remain sound and the offense finally has some punch. Buenos Aires showed that offense quickly by putting up 10 runs in the first 4 innings of the game. They would manage to score an avg of over 7 runs per game this Sim. And they had to as the pitching staff showed troubling signs of wilting. Brisas starter António Ramírez did get spotted 10 runs, that didn't stop him from surrendering 5 runs (4 ER) over the first 4 innings. But P Bani Marita took up his slack with 2 innings of shutout ball and handed it over to the seasoned bullpen to preserve the 10-5 victory. The rotation welcomed back lefty SP Sofian Jalil who tossed 7.1 innings of 1-run ball only to watch things fall apart when typically dependable CL You-cheng Hang gave up 4 runs with 1 out in the 9th off doubles and singles but the Monarchs walked off the win. The 3rd game was a very odd game. It started as a classic pitchers' duel with London starter Manaalii Cardina and Brisas SP Marvin Winston each held the opponent to 1 run and the tie would last until the 11th inning. Buenos Aires suddenly darted out with 2 runs in the top of the inning, but London responded with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning to win by one. The offense peaked its head over the fence in the final game scoring 3 in the 2nd, 3 in the 5th (following a 4-run 3rd from London), then fighting back with 3 runs in the 5th and 5 in the 6th and the Brisas landing with a 2-2 series in London.

@ Sydney 2-7 L
@ Sydney 4-3(10) W
@ Sydney 12-4 W

Buenos Aires continued piling up awards miles as they traveled to Sydney, Australia to face the Sharks. It would have been easy to pencil down this series as a sweep for the Sharks, and it looked that way the first night with the Brisas getting pounded 7-2. The next day, the Brisas sent their ace SP António Ramírez to the hill and he held the Sharks to 2 runs in just over 6 innings. But some late-inning shenanigans happened here, too, when Beunos Aires jumped out to a 1-run lead by scoring 2 runs in the top of the 9th. Sure of their victory, some Brisas players celebrated in the dugout while the vets told them to calm down and focus. It almost cost them the first Brisas victory but lefty P Steve Wauchope sealed the 4-3 win with a save. The rubber game of the 3-game set started with the Brisas looking to hold on to another tidy 4-3 game only in the Brisas' favor. In the top of the 5th though the Brisas scored 4 and added 4 more in the 6th to put a 12-4 victory to bed.
