Whew. We are just stunned after Sim #23 (recap here) and consecutive 1-6 Sims that are both part of an 8-19 August.

BRISAS PITCHER OF THE MONTH - AUGUST

Pitcher

SP Namik Vedat
9 G, 9 GS, 3-4, 3.06 ERA, 53.0 IP, 1.32 WHIP, 31 K, +1.2 WAR

Vedat may be 30-years-old but it seems like a rookie, breakout year the numbers he's putting up. And this as a full-time SP for the first time in his career. Vedat started the 2055 season with the Brisas AAA affiliate Ndali and he turned in a 3.50 ERA & +1.3 WAR in 17 starts. That basically forced Teague's hand. It was just a matter of timing. Namik's first trip to the mound in August was in Jerusalem where he tossed 7 innings of shutout ball allowing 6 hits and fanning 7. RP Todd Walley and closer Dani Martínez shut the door on a 2-1 victory.

Vedat was overall solid in his next start but let the long ball get to him in a 3-run 3rd and he couldn't prevent a couple of insurance runs for Tokyo. Back home vs Cairo on the 18th, Namik got things back to the "2-1" ways...but was only the losing end of that scoreline this time. He gave up 2 runs in the 6th which were the only smudge marks on the night.

On the 23rd, Sydney came to town and the Brisas were desperate for something good as they were riding an 11-game losing streak. Vedat took the hill and took command. 7 innings he went allowing 5 hits and striking out 3. Finally, back in Cairo, the righty spotted the Pharaohs 2 runs in the 1st and the Brisas offense couldn't cover anything from there on.

It all added up to a Sim with a 2-3 record, 2.59 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 4.5 K/BB, and +0.6.
