As I do seemingly every season, let's take a look at not just how lacking are the stats but how, relatively, bad the team has been. Again, this chart is not about the Brisas having less production than, let's say, London. It's about just how far off pace is the team...with the 0.00 being equal and STDev going in the plus & minus directions.
Offense is pure trash. Not many runs are going to be scored when the team is next-to-last in the league in XBH and RBI. The team is even the worst by far in SB which is unusual for a team with Teague at the helm. "A lot of it is getting the right guys in here and putting them in a place to succeed. We have too many players at secondary positions and we have to align our strategy with our strengths as well," said Teague.
Even though the team appears to be lucky if we just take pitching BABIP into account, the truth is pitching is going to suck when fielding is bad and we can't stop the other team putting the ball in play and finding the holes. HR, however, are right on league pace.
One thing this team can do is play defense. Teague says, "I've had many better, sometimes much better, defenses but this is guys drilled and prepared successfully. We may not be better than our opponents, but we will be more prepared."
