5-7-5: Ten Haiku Reasons to be Optimistic About the Future of the Piranhas

Post by tylertoo » Sat Jan 09, 2021 12:42 pm

(Editor's note: As Piranhas fans despair over the disappointing season, we asked Team Poet Laureate and former Tripoli pitcher Clinton "Agony" Womack to compose, in Haiku form, ten reasons why you should be optimistic about the future).

#1:
Takechi Eida
Only twenty three years old
Already a stud

#2:
Three ML SPs
Bolitho‌, Einan‌, Nicholls
Average age nineteen

Image
Next season will bring a Michael Best Bobblehead Night,
among other enticing promotions.

#3:
At the hot corner
Michael Best‌ is still the best
He'll be back next year

#4:
There's Tony Román
A big bat at age 20
(Too bad he can't field)

#5:
MacKeith‌ and Mangan
At the corners are solid
Just reaching their primes

#6:
Ten million dollars
Expected cap room next year
To lure free agents

#7:
Lots of promotions
Scheduled for '46
Mike Best‌ bobblehead!

#8:
Pepe‌ and Profit
Free agent disappointments
Gone in '46

#9:
Perry Piranha
The team's hideous mascot
Has makeover planned

#10:

Tariq bin Habib
The team's billionaire owner
Is itching to win

Extra Bonus Limerick:
There once was a GM named Dunn
The Piranhas were his team to run
But he took these contenders
And made them pretenders
In the cellar you can't see the sun
Mike Dunn
Chicago Black Sox (1995-1996) (2049-2054)
Landis Champion: '95, '96

Edmonton Jackrabbits (2047-2048)
Tripoli Piranhas (2044-2046)
