First Month Ends Under .500

When asked how his thoughts on the first month of Libyan Generals has gone GM Herb DeSpain paused for a moment before giving his answer. "Not as good as we wanted," said the first time GM. "But we are just now getting our best team on the field." After months of preparing and putting together a roster worthy of UMEBA competition DeSpain found out that the hard work was just starting. "Things were very fluid in April. It seemed like every week another player was being released by someone and that player was better than what we had so we went after them." To DeSpain's point the Generals had 36 different players take the field at some point during the first month of games. At least 10 of those players were not with the organization at the end of spring training with most being released by BBA teams and snatched up by the Generals.

"We've had some guys struggle that we were counting on," said manager Shakit Jat. "Adam Simons is the perfect example of this. He was suppose to be our Ace and he had a great first start but after that it was three duds in a row. We can't afford that kind of effort from our top guys." Jat continued with his rant, "Same thing with Henry Rectenberg, you can't be a leader on any team and hit under .200. There are plenty of guys in the Brewster that wish they were making Henry Rectenberg money and most of them aren't hitting under .200!"

So what's gone right so far you might ask? "We have our bright spots," DeSpain answered. "Arnold Leach had a great April. With all of the new guys we've brought in we have to find a way to keep him in the lineup."
