Light wind - 2059.8 - A little Draftee

A busy draft came to an end for Buenos Aires, they had 7 of the first 24 picks and combined guys nearly ready to contribute at the big league level like Satishkuma 'Little Dan' Sampath and Rainer Mesu with two seventeen year olds looking to help shape the future of the franchise. Let's have a look at the fifth and sixth picks shall we?

Outside of the number one pick Godofredo 'The Sanger' Chucha, it was up in the air who would be available to Buenos Aires at 5 and 6. One thing was certain though, one guy that would be taken would be a pitcher. The lack of quality arms has plagued the Brisas this year, and no young arms are making a case to break through. Top of their board was seventeen year old Tongan Alapi Nalani who fell to number 5 where he was graciously snapped up. What the Brisas saw in him is the potential for an already near GBC level 4-pitch mix, to turn elite. His fastball tops out at 93mph and despite not having elite speed will hold up at this level. His off-speed stuff though, is the exciting part. A curveball, changeup and splitter all big league ready, and all with the potential to become elite pitches. His control is good, with his main worry being the homerun ball but scouts say he'll become less vulnerable to it as he improves.

At pick six, the choice was a tough one. 3 catchers and 2 centre fielders would be taken after the Brisas but none possessed real star potential that Williamson hoped for. Greene and Garrison are both 34 so this team will be without superstar bats very soon so ultimately third baseman Nick Bywaters was the no brain choice. His lack of ability in the field is what allowed him to full this far, an average third baseman with the potential to play a slightly below average shortstop as well. The bat though is exceptional, he's incredibly well rounded with the potential to have above average contact and power tools without the issue of anything else letting him down. At seventeen he is closer to the big leagues than you'd expect, so there is a good chance we could see him before the likes of Greene and Garrison move on and he can be an added power lefty is the side.

It's unlikely we will see any prospects this year, even with the likes of Erik Robertson and Sachdev 'Eyechart' Vajpeyi beginning to knock on doors. Next year though, we all hope for a youth invasion... Until then, I guess Green and Garrison will do.
