Finally. The 2042 UMEBA season is over after the Istanbul Bosphorus defeated the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers in the prestigious Round 2. While the champagne pours is Istanbul, Kuwaities are pouring Vimto as they celebrate the end of a tumultuous season, the first in Alhafr
history. While it took awhile to find a leader for the club, GM Chad Nason seems to have done a decent enough job of preventing a total collapse to secure a second season at the helm after accumulating 60 wins.

“While our players get a much needed break, my job isn’t finished” said Nason. ”We need to find ways to improve our squad for the future. I feel like we’ve already got a leg up on the competition with some recent signings and I’m excited to see our product on the field in 2043. There’s still a lot of work to do before spring training, so I gotta get going.”

While some clever sabotaging from the Manama front office delayed crucial early season signings, Nason jumped the gun on 2043 and made significant signings that will surely pay dividends next season. While other UMEBA front offices were sleeping, Nason was able to pry away some top talent from the BBA.
As the playoff loomed ahead, Nason snagged SP Heinrich Peithner out of the free agent pool. With pitching being a premium in UMEBA, this is an extremely exciting signing for a very reasonable $3.6M for the next two years. But Nason didn’t stop at one major signing. Leading up to Round 2, fellow BBA players, CF Weaver Ripley and 2B Raúl Alilea were released from their teams. At ages26 and 24, respectively, both players show a lot of promise in the UMEBA. Nason wasted no time in gobbling up both of them, locking in Ripley for $3.5M for the next two years and Alilea for $4M for the next two years.

“I’m still in a little bit of disbelief after hearing of our recent signings. I’m so excited to have two other great bats from the BBA in our lineup, along with a new ace for our rotation. We’ve taken our lumps this year, man, and it feels nice to have some reassurance for next season. I think we can actually compete with this squad. It makes leaving home for a foreign league a lot easier” said 2042 Alhafr MVP, Drew Hair.

There will definitely have to be some more juggling with this roster, but things are finally looking promising in Kuwait City. Whether or not this team will contend for a playoff spot remains to be seen, but if this offseason goes as well as the pre-offseason has panned out, Nason may, yet, lead this team to glory.

Thank you! Nice to add an ace and two middle of the lineup guys. Should improve defense as well.

I'd like to see what KWC would have done with Chad in the seat all season. A start like that is hard to dig out of.

Thanks. The salary cap increase makes those recent signings a whole lot better!
