Unclouding the Waters

It appears the controversy in Kuwait City has not ended. First and foremost, my junior assistant reporter has been missing for several days after attending an interview in Athens. I sent him as my proxy since my life has been endangered over previous reports of hostility in the UMEBA. The search party continues, but his last known communication indicates he was on the way to the airport with a chaperone employed by Mr. Papadakis.
Secondly, in baseball news, former league secretary and Papadakis's mistress was able to destroy all remaining communication between Alhafr and the league before being dragged through the league office doors by security. Having yet another week without a full roster was the last time this club would be hurt by the now fired secretary. Her investigation for tampering is still ongoing.
Now that the corruption seems to have settled down, Kuwait City General Manager, Chad Nason, was able to deliver on his promise to make this a contending team. In his first week under full control, his team played .500 ball by quadrupling the team's total wins. Makeshift starting pitcher, Manuel Bruno, was able to pick up the W against Baghdad, while the bullpen salvaged a great victory from the lowly Manama Pearls. Wayne Mawle, who closed out the victory against the Pearls, had this to say:
"It was a matter of time until this team got going. We needed a hero to lead us and Mr. Nason has stepped up to the plate in a big way. Just his presence alone has inspired us. We were playing on our last legs, but Mr. Nason has brought stability and reinforcements along to continue our success. This victory against Manama was a small one, but just a preview of the rest of their season when they face us."
The reinforcements Mawle is referring to are a crop of free agents harvested by Nason. Many of the signings are former BBA players looking for a resurgence of their careers. The names you'll begin seeing in Alhafr jerseys are headlined by 3B Gary Schneider, 1B Drew Hair, and RF John Ginn.
On paper, Kuwait City have one of the strongest linueps in the UMEBA. Their rotation and bullpens will have their struggles, but I suspect they will try and make moves to improve that area, as well. Perhaps a callup of Wen Rui will help bolster that rotation, but that remains to be seen. All in all, the future looks bright for this squad and with Nason at the helm, the bright future will lead them out of this dark abyss of an inaugural season.

Is that just light at the end of the tunnel or is there a train attached?

Well, it can be taken one of two ways, depending how the season plays out. If it's a success, then that is clearly a light at the end of the tunnel. If it's a failure, then he is just getting ready to lay down on the tracks and wait for the train.

Hair had a several great years in California, including my first year with the organization in 2039. In 2040, I changed my ballpark configuration and it no longer catered to his skill-set. I still cheer for the guy, though.Dington wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:59 pmBoth hit HR in their first gameshoeless.db wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 6:15 pmHair and Schneider?? As that beat writer not reached home yet? I'll ask Alexis later, I need to ask him why he left a shovel in the back of the limo anyway.

It's spring time, so I'm sure he was just doing some gardening.

After Hair struggled last year for us after a serviceable 2040, I knew his BBA time was up and thought he'd have a fruitful career in the UMEBA. Nice signing!
