Its been a season to forget for anyone associated with the Athens Fighting Centaurs and the same could be said for offseason signing Shunsho Miyake. Miyake, who was signed out of Japan by the Louisville Sluggers in 2051 before never being able to make it past AAA. He was released by Louisville in 2062 and was picked up by Jacksonville midseason last year but wasnt able to make it past AA Trois-Rivieres.

This season for Athens Miyake is batting .283/.376/.428 with 9 extra base hits and 4 home runs. He left the game on Saturday in a 1 run 7-6 loss vs the Tokyo Pearls. At that point in the game he had a RBI single in the top of the second and drew a walk in the top of the third. Later in the inning while at third, he would score on a single by Carson Henry. After crossing homeplate, he appeared to be limping and was removed from the game.

He has now been diagnosed with a sprained knee and is expected to miss 6 weeks. Miyake has been known to have knee problems throughout his career. He missed a total of 8 weeks in 2061, granted that was his right knee and not his left. He missed 5 days last season with knee tendinitis in the left knee.
