Seems like even a winning record doesn't cut it anymore in the United Middle East Baseball Association as Devin Newman found to his cost, the ex Athens GM had posted a 36-35 record when he was informed that his services were no longer required. It was more puzzling not because Athens were 36-35 and had just won there fourth game in a row but they are also the defending United Cup winners
His position as Athens Major League Manager will be filled by Cameron Fookes, Fookes comes to The Fighting Centaurs with a rich pedigree of winning campaigns under his belt. He had two winning seasons in Bucharest of the UMEBA before moving to San Antonio in the BBA, he spent 7 seasons with the Outlaws within those seasons he had a 102 win season along with a 97 win season.
It's thought that Fookes is well regarded by the powers that be with the Centaurs and could be the catalyst that leads to Athens challenging for multiple United Cup trophies.
After the parting of the ways with Devin Newman who many thought hadn't put a foot wrong with not only a United Cup victory but a winning record this season at the time of his departure, fingers are pointing at GM Thomas having a ruthless streak on his return to Athens.
