All Aboard The Fighting Centaurs.

Post by Clayman » Fri Dec 31, 2021 10:34 pm

The Fighting Centaurs went on a signing spree, rumours were they had to hire a bus to ferry them all in.

José Rodríguez comes into the Athens organisation with 10 years of BBA baseball under his belt with the Phoenix Talons, with the Talons he won 48 games and finished with a 3.59 era in 795 innings pitched. Another pitcher signed to a minor league contract was Ken Walter, Walter returns to Athens having split the 2048 season with the BBA's Long Beach Surfers and Athens. Whilst Rodríguez could have a shot at the majors it's thought Walter's will only be called upon due to injuries. The third pitcher signed to a minor league contract was Lando Klomp, Klomp just like Rodríguez was last seen in a Talons uniform within the BBA. The next pitcher on the list is David Saotome, Sao tome is more of a punt than the others as he's an undrafted free agent. With just an handful of games under his belt with Las Vegas of the BBA George Hendrickson may have to rely on a bit of luck to get a major league contract, it's thought the only reason Athens signed Paris Demosthenous was the fact he's Greek, only time will tell if he can make an impression.

GM Thomas didn't just concentrate on pitchers, he also sent his scouts out to hunt for bats as well.

Second Base Keith Dean who spent a couple of seasons in Baghdad but spending most of his career in the BBA with the Atlantic City Gamblers could be in the majors sooner rather than later. Hedde Veenman was once a star of the UMEBA in his days with Manama but sadly those days may have gone, only time will tell if he can rekindle the fire. A couple of 1B were next up, those being Duane Whitley, Jr. and Jimmy Starks, Jr., Whitley player for many a team within the BBA most recently Brooklyn, Starks played most of his BBA career in Omaha and it's hoped he can rollback the years with Athens. A position The Fighting Centaurs have struggled with is 3B this the signing of Kiichi Suzuki, with his lefty bat Suzuki maybe fast tracked to the majors. The last player to sign was Valdinei Casteles another lefty bat as never played in the majors but may get at least a cup of coffee somewhere along the line.
