The Splash

Post by jtannehill » Tue Nov 17, 2020 6:58 am

Sports pundits often talk about teams making the "big splash" when signing a player to a big contract. Teams do it for various reasons to get their fan base excited, owners tired of losing and missing out year after year of going to a postseason, sometimes teams do it out of necessity to fill a giant hole in their team construction and feel like they are at a place where they need to do whatever it takes to get the player they want. Mateus Rabisca
Mateus Rabisca fit the bill of the player Athens had to have. Rabisca a lefty out of Venezuela bounced around some interesting places in the world starting off at Port au Prince and Juneau Alaska before pitching with this years UMEBA champion Bucharest. "Frankly I was tired of facing him this year" Tannehill lamented.. Hopefully we can play the other division also this year playing the same three teams gets a little redundant.. So after facing the aforementioned Rabisca several times and seeing how Bucharest wasn't going to pay him what he was asking for, Athens decided to keep Rabisca in the UMEBA and in the same division no less and shell out the big bucks for the marquee free agent. ""The numbers speak for themselves " Tannehill says...He starts 35 games a year throws over 200 innings keeps the ball in the park and strikes out a ton of guys not a lot to be worried about when he is on the mound.."Bucharest is a good team Rabisca certainly has some knowledge of those hitters over there and will pass that on to the other pitchers on how to get those guys out" Rabisca will get the chance to lead the rotation which will feature at least two young pitchers if not more and a couple of veterans who will eat up some innings. Next is finding some offense to round out the lineup with not a lot of room left financially Tannehill will look through the bargain bin to find some treasures that are certainly going to need to be found if they expect to make that "splash" this season..

That's a ton of your cap space tied up with one player. Let's see if it pays off.

Go big or go home. Glad to see him stay in the middle east. I didn't think that was going to happen.
