Bringing Up the Rear

Post by jtannehill » Sun Oct 25, 2020 5:52 pm

Athens- A few bright spots but overshadowed by sub-par pitching and not enough offense to keep up with the other teams above them, Athens has
had a rough year so far heading into the trade deadline. Ranked last in every meaningful category in the Bancroft division the Athens squad stands at 55-78 well below the goals set before the season of a.500 record. Taking over last year midway through the season, Tannehill led the Athens squad to just under a .500 record after a rough start by the prior regime. Athens seems to have taken a slight step back this year but still has time to right the ship and end on a positive note. Athens has been led all season by Yancy Cravat Yancy Cravat Yancy has hit to the tune of .252 with 44 HRS and 114 RBIs and has a 1.8 WAR. Yancy made his 2nd all star team this season with Athens and doesn't appear to be slowing down. Coming over from Kuwait City in the contraction draft was Jack MonikerJack Moniker Jack has led the team with a .345 avg with 37 SBs to set the table at the top of the lineup this season and appears to have found a home in Athens. The pitching is very young and has several interesting prospects that will get time to show what they can do. Defense needs to be a priority and Athens will need to look to trade some of their veterans before the deadline if there is any interest.

I think I picked up Moniker as a minor league FA and brought him up to crush righties. He plugged right into KC lineup.

Yes! He does great against righties and with 2 outs and behind on the count he does awesome as well. I saw he was productive for you also last season. Glad Des Moines didn't have room for him and let him go...

I'm biased ;) but don't think the previous regime did a bad job starting a team from scratch, personally think you let Makin go cheap I mean did you need Youngberry when you have Cravat a veteran and Woolridge a youngster at first who for some weird reason fields better in the majors than the minors, plus Born gives too many homers up to be an Athens pitcher. Good write up though.

Never once said you did a bad job..just stating the facts Clayman. You quit on a team middle of year when it had a terrible record. I came in and had a over .500 record the rest of way. You keep on attacking me when I state facts and even had the audacity to message me privately and complain/attack me that I was bashing you on my writeups when you weren't even in the league anymore. I didn't mention it to the higher ups which another owner said I should have and I thought you were going to let it go but here you are again. You obviously don't have a very thick skin worrying what I'm writing about. When I told you you needed to get back in the league since you obviously had passion for it since you were on the boards private messaging me you did, so congrats on your team. You need to move on from Athens your the one that quit on them and worry about your own team man.

Reading through this (and the previous TNs), I really see nothing remotely close to objectionable directed at previous administrations. While I obviously appreciate the enjoyment and passion people have for what they have built or attempted to build in this league (and am obviously not shy about critiquing what others have done), it crosses a line when you repeatedly PM and harass your successors (and yes Neil I had heard about your PMs from a few months ago back as they were happening). In my opinion, nothing in this TN or any previous TNs written by Jay comes remotely close to the level of disrespect, so that sort of activity is really not necessary.

I think a good rule of thumb for everyone who has a previous franchise in this league is to take a deep breath and if necessary vent to others not involved in the situation privately.

1) It was a tongue in cheek remark hence the smilie, so thick skin, thin skin hmmm.

2) In 16+ years of OOTP never have quit on a team, I've quit on leagues because they haven't been fun so your misinformed on the reason I left the league. in fact Matt even stated from a pm I sent him that I wasn't having fun, also if you ask Matt when I wanted to rejoin I asked for Jerusalem who at the time had the worst record in the UMEBA so winning/losing means nothing to me never as done as far as OOTP is concerned, like most if not all non Americans we join OOTP leagues to talk baseball, not to win but just shoot the breeze about baseball.

3) Please show me were I "attacked" you, show me that and I'll apologise on the forum and leave the league for good because you'll be the first that I ever have done.

4) Pretty sure I sent you 1 slack pm, I honestly can't remember sending you any board PM's. Yes just looked at all my PM's I've sent and received and haven't had any contact with you on the boards at all, maybe confused with someone else?

Sorry I tell a little lie, I sent 2 slack pms. 1 was a trade offer for Juan Rodriguez a few weeks back, you must have missed it as you didn't reply but all's good as he kind of hit the skids after that pm :(
