Opening Day fast approaching in the UMEBA and our own Athens Fighting Centaurs visit theBeirut Cedars for a 3 game series, Beirut finished 80-82 last season finishing 17 games behind the Bucharest Impalers and 5 games behind the Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers. CF Máximo Quezada will be the main thorn in the side of the Centaurs pitching staff but they underestimate 3B António Baca at their peril.
Predicted starting pitchers Maxin Markin was brought in from free agency having spent the past three years with the Madison Wolves a repetoire of pitches should have most opposition hitters on the backdoor. Game #2 starter could and should be Abel Gibson, Game #3 as yet it isn't written in stone who will start the third game but rumour as it that job will fall to Juan Pagán

Mr Papadakis was by a massive majority voted by the fans to throw out the first pitch in the Opening Day game, he declined stating it should not only be a fan of the Centaurs but more importantly someone born in Athens. There were 3 who received votes, Nyke Lambrakis was placed second in the votes and will throw out the Opening Day pitch.

Opening Day in Athens and the likes of Wild Bill, Gonzo and Barajas will take to the field for the first time in front of their home fans against theBucharest Impalers . The name you will see the most of though is Esteban Cuervo by far Cuervo as sold not only more jerseys than any other Athens player but maybe any other UMEBA player, one employee was quoted as saying "we ran out of 4s, alot of the star players have a 4 in their number but Esteban's #46 made it even worse".
