In the end it's paid of but it could have been a costly mistake according to Mr Papadakis "I could have been sweeping the streets if this had not paid off, I wouldn't have been broke but I would have had to pay alot of people who backed me, the $450 million for the ballpark was mostly mine, but there's the fact who would have trusted a businessman who lost over $400 million. However the fact is we didn't lose the money, simply because the faith I had in not only our bid but also the faith I had in the people of Athens, they said we want a baseball team so we went and got one".
Piraeus Park is a state of the art stadium, 50 luxury air conditioned boxes. 90% of the seats have a touchpad on one of the arms to place your food order which is delivered to your seat. The 10% of seats without the touchpad system are in the outfield, on a survey of what fans wanted or didn't want was they wanted bleachers in the outfield.
Although they aren't your bog standard planks of wood as not only cushioned but also air conditioned, the stadium is 100% environmentally friendly, no plastic is used the Centaurs even planted a forest that will produce any wood or paper that is needed for the stadium be it construction or items later like packaging.
Mr Papadakis addressed a group of reporters detailing what he wanted from the stadium. "In today's age of trying to get the earth back on track we believe we need to set an example, the stone being used for the stadium is being dug from a quarry two miles outside of Athens, when that quarry is finished with, it will be used as a reservoir for the people of Athens, we will also installed turbines to provide electricity.
The trees we cut down from the hillsides will be replaced by a windfarm again providing electricity for Athens, a forest will be planted in a different location. A windfarm will also be built just of the coast which will provide the stadiums electricity needs. All food that is remaining from a game will be distributed to the needy through the Athens Welfare Society, we want Athens to be 100% eco friendly by the 2050 season but the stadium will be 100% eco friendly from Opening Day".
