If you have to ask what would cause this joviality then you must have been living in a cave the past few months, what would cause this reaction was the announcement yesterday afternoon by the commissioner of the BBA & UMEBA baseball leagues that one of the UMEBA expansion teams would be non other than the Athens Fighting Centaurs. He didn't even need to announce the word Athens as, as soon as he said A the whole city of Athens erupted. The biggest outpouring of joy was down at the Piraeus docks where an estimated 150,000 people had gathered at the planned site of Piraeus Park the future home of the Centaurs if they were given a franchise. Well there aren't any if's, and's or buts anymore, Athens have been given a franchise.
"It is with immense pleasure and pride that I stand before you, since soccer started to loose favour with you the people of Athens some six years ago it as been my a dream to bring the ever increasingly popular game of baseball to these shores. Without you the people of Athens this would not have happened but with your trust, friendship and belief we have succeeded in our quest. Non of you lost faith, however I did when one of our backers decided not to carry on with the project. A couple of days later I was at my lowest, that day I was interviewed on a radio station were I cast my doubts if we would get a team. Then a miracle started to happen, someone phoned in saying if everyone gave just $5 then that would be $15 million. I thought we would get a few thousand, within weeks we had over $15m enough to pay the BBA & UMEBA the franchise fee. Within one envelope was $5 and a poem, I'd like to read the first verse.

When the funds are low and the debts are high
