And we conclude this four-part series of team awards by issuing the award to our top offensive player in 2057. One thing to note about us giving out the top hitter, we focus on offense. Which means we don't necessarily take into account WAR since it also plays defense into it. But we don't completely ignore it either. Of course I say all of this to make this opening paragraph just a little bit longer because the guy who had our best offensive numbers in 2057 was also the guy who led the team in WAR this season.

Fresh off his Puckett Award winning season from 2056 as the Frick League's top hitting centerfielder, Pedro Rosales claims the top hitter award for the Lumberjacks in 2057*. Rosales not only led the team in most offensive categories, he dominated them. His 33 homeruns this season were 14 more than the next guy on the team. His 102 RBI were 31 more than Pedro Bustamante who finished 2nd. He led the team in doubles with 42, 15 more than the next guy. All in all, he hit .265/.331/.508 with a 3.3 WAR which may have been lowered by sub-average defensive play in CF this season.

But if you want more on what Rosales did well to lead the team in offense, here are the other categories he led the team in:
Hits: 158
Walks: 57
Runs: 91
Total Bases: 303

So the choice was a pretty easy one this year.

It's also worth noting that his 5.8 WAR collected over the last two seasons in Portland is enough to now rank him 10th all-time among batters in Portland history.
