Things could not have started worse for Portland's Triple-A team out in Quincy, Washington. The Fire Dancers kicked off the 2057 campaign with an abysmal 14-game losing streak. During that stretch, the club saw: 1 double digit loss, 2 extra inning defeats, 2 losses by the score of 1-0, and 8 losses in which the offense failed to score more than 2 runs.

"It's pathetic and completely unacceptable" commented Portland General Manager Chris Wilson. "I, I mean we, pride ourselves in having not only a competitive BBA team but a competitive minor league system as well. Starting the year 0-14 is something that will not be tolerated. You can rest assured I'll be looking for some veteran guys who want to continue playing the game of baseball who want to give it a shot out in Quincy."

The 14-game losing streak did come an end this week when the Fire Dancers defeated the San Francisco Doves 6-1 in a game at home in Quincy. The win did spark some better play as the team did go on to win 3 of 4 games including that 6-1 win. At 3-17, the team is already a full 12 games behind the 1st place squad out in Missouri in the Roundfield Midwest standings.

Wilson mentioned finding some veteran prescence to help the club, and at the moment, veteran Jiao-long Ma is leading the charge with 3 homeruns and an OPS near .800. Most of the offense after Ma has a negative WAR in the early going.

As the first month of the season comes to a close, Quincy is the only farm team in the Portland organization with a losing record.
