Along with the major year end awards, the honors for the top hitters in each league were also announced this week. The Charles Puckett Awards given to the top hitter at each position in the league, is voted upon by the general managers of the BBA. This season, the Portland Lumberjacks earned two Puckett Award winners. It is the franchise's first time ever winning two honors in the same season.

For the third consecutive time with Portland, Ernest McBride captured the Puckett Award at DH in the Frick League. Despite missing 23 games with an injury late in the season, McBride still hit 31 homeruns for the Lumberjacks while driving in an even 100 RBI. He posted a .294/.367/.544 stat line while scoring 104 runs and posting a 4.5 WAR. His .911 OPS led all Frick League Designated Hitters in 2050.

Claiming his first ever Charles Puckett Award was Portland Centerfielder Po-sin Shi. Shi narrowly edged out Yellow Springs night centerfield Arvin Duggan for the Award. Duggan out produced Shi in WAR by a 4.6 to 3.2 tally, but Shi's OPS closed the gap. Shi posted a .786 OPS to Duggan's .788. In fact, we're not exactly sure how Shi claimed the honor over Duggan considering the disparity in stats. Shi hit 14 homeruns and drove in 56 RBI, far fewer than that of Duggan. Shi did hit .247 compared to Duggan's .249. Oh wait, that doesn't make sense either. Shi did steal 37 bases, so maybe that's it. (Checks notes to see Duggan swiped 69 bases) uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Nonetheless, congratulations to both McBride and Shi for their honors!
