We Got Wood - 48.24 - Hot Mom Causing Issues in Quincy

It has not been a season to remember for the Portland Lumberjacks Triple-A organization in Quincy. The team is currently 40-80 on the season and sits 25 games out of first place. First place that is currently shared by 4 other teams in the division. Issues within the team that frankly are non-baseball related seem to have plagued the Triple-A team this season.

"No one can coach this team under these circumstances" commented Ron Voss, Quincy manager. "The things going on with this team and within this organization are absurd. If I wasn't some unknown guy trying to make a living and support my family then I'd probably tell the higher ups to take this job and shove it. But I need the money."

News began surfacing this week over turmoil within the locker room in Quincy. Turmoil that appears to have been long standing but news has only recently surfaced. The turmoil appears to be stemming over Portland's 11th ranked prospect Kam Fiscus's mom. Yes, the Portland assistant general manager Kate Fiscus. Kam, the former 18th overall pick in the draft, was reportedly suspended for two days back in July due to what team officials reported as an ear infection. Reports are now surfacing it was much, much more.

The suspension was the result of a dustup between Kam and his catcher So Huynh on July 11th in the Firedancers game against the San Francisco Doves. After allowing 6 runs in 2 innings, Fiscus was in the process of being pulled when Huynh told Kam "man, you sucked today. Speaking of sucking, is your mom at the game today? I need a little of that Kate pep-talk."

A peaved Fiscus then threw the baseball at Huynh's chest as he left the field. The team suspended Fiscus two days, citing the ear infection, for the incident.

Kate Fiscus has not been seen nor heard from much in Portland this season, choosing to attend her son's games in Quincy. It is highly unlikely the younger Fiscus ever makes it to the big leagues. However, it is becoming apparent that the elder Fiscus's presence at her son's games may be becoming a distraction to the farm system.

"We are looking into proper measures on what to do next" commented team GM Chris Wilson. "Between the ugly rumors of Kate, a disgruntled manager, and now a tanking young prospect, it's obvious we need to take some sort of action or risk losing the entire Triple-A farm team entirely. We've called for Kate to return to Portland and get off the road with our minor league team. Perhaps she can help spark a move for us to get into the wild card hunt."

She's clearly lost her ability to spark the farm system!
