We Got Wood - 48.12 - All Aboard!

Jump on now fellas! You never know when this bandwagon train is going to get de-railed! For the first time in franchise history, the Portland Lumberjacks are in 1st place in the division. Not only that, but the club has finished each and every sim perched atop the Frick League Pacific standings. "I'm not going to lie" said Faical Engeitado, the longest tenured Lumberjack on the team, "I like it up here. I wouldn't mind staying here all season!"

The Lumberjacks jumped out early on the season, claiming wins in 5 of their first 6 games including a series win over Vancouver to kick off the season. "We still don't like them, you know!?" added Wilson after the series win a few weeks back. Portland followed that up with a 4 game sweep of Long Beach, a series win over Seattle, and then a series split against Valencia to gain superiority over the division. The club then followed that up by showing the pundits that the Heartland isn't all it's cracked up to be, by sweeping the Louisville Sluggers in Portland (ignore those two losses to Madison if you'd please).

Now the Rubber Hits the Road
Portland faces it's first major test this week as it'll host a series against Sacramento, the pre-season favorites to win the division in 2048 and defending Pacific champs. Then they'll take on Hawaii and San Fernando soon thereafter, both teams typically fighting for a top spot in the division. "If we are true contenders in this thing" commented manager Farri Agymah, "we show it in the next few weeks against those teams."

de' Medici Dealing
Lorenzo de' Medici has started the season on fire, claiming 4 victories in a relievers role. He has already appeared in 13 games, tossing 16 innings in which he's allowed just 6 hits and 6 walks while striking out 27! The start by Lorenzo and the other core relievers has allowed Agymah to continue to implement shorter leashes on the starting studs in the rotation. "As long as our guys like de' Medici, Martinez, and Ngo continue to eat innings at the end of the game and shut down offenses, we will continue to limit the pitch counts and pitches of our starters."

Agymah did comment the leash has been extended in 2048. Last season, each starter was restricted to 95 pitches and/or 27 batters faced. This year, the batters faced limit has been expanded to 30 but so far, most starters are seeing an exit at or around 95 pitches. Which for most games has limited the starter to 6 innings as the game is then turned over to the pen.

Don't Jinx It
This Guy is off to a good start in his new role. But we bragged on him last year and he went to tank. So we'll keep it quiet for now.

End of May.... 4 Game set in Portland.

Gotta check my rotation and make sure you get my top 4 :P

It doesn't help matters that we have a 3-game set with Sacramento right before that. Of course all this talk and we both know I'll be 5 games under .500 by that time.
