We Got Wood - 46.23 - Hey, We're Decent!

In typical fashion, real life gets in the way and my string of post-sim team news comes to a quick end and also my run at a lot of PPs through TNs. But with a little time today, I felt the need to make note of the fact that Portland has gone 6-2-1 in their last 9 series played since the all-star break and are in the midst of their best season to date. At 56-61 currently, the Lumberjacks aren't playoff contenders by any means, but 100 losses appears safe from happening this season and those with high levels of optimism are starting to think that a .500 record could be up for grabs this season.

"We've played really well since the all-star break" added team Assistant General Manager Kate Fiscus. "We don't rank very high on the statistical leaderboards but the team is winning games, and that is the ultimate end goal."

The club has gone 17-11 since the all-star break with 6 series wins over teams. And the club has done this against some solid competition. The most impressive stretch thus far was a 6-game winning streak the team pulled off when they won the final 2 of a series against San Fernando and then swept the Seattle Storm in a 4 game series. The club then parlayed that into taking 2 of 3 from both Yellow Springs and Twin Cities.

"The best part about all of that is those are all playoff contending teams" added Fiscus. "Since we've come into the league as an expansion organization in 2040, we've not faired well against the upper level teams in the Frick. This year has been different. We are holding our own. There is a buzz starting to swirl around Portland that this team could be a post-season contender very, very soon."

Portland will look to edge closer to the .500 mark next sim as they wrap up a series against the Kernels where the Lumberjacks are one win away from a sweep before traveling to rival Vancouver for a 3 game set and then back home for the Stars.
