We Got Wood - 45.14 - Fiscus and Medina Get Heated

Post by 7teen » Wed Dec 02, 2020 12:58 pm

Prepare yourself for disappointment. Hopefully the title led you to click the article in hopes of more Kate Fiscus exploits. But that's not what this is about.

Reports have surfaced after the Lumberjacks most recent loss to San Fernando that newly hired assistant general manager Kate Fiscus and team field manager Pedro Medina had a few choice words for one another. It got so heated that after the game, Medina only gave one quote to reporters after the 8-4 loss, saying "It's clear who is calling the shots around here now. She is" Medina concluded before walking away from the podium.

Reports from within are stating Fiscus, who travels with the team on the road, confronted Medina in the tunnel after the game asking why the manager continues to steal bases. "We aren't a running team" Fiscus was reported as saying, "why do you continue to do it. Stop!"

Further reports state that Fiscus became enraged in her box during the game when Miguel Cortez was gunned down trying to steal 2B in the 4th inning. Those from within the luxury suite said Fiscus nearly fired Medina on the spot the previous day when he had 3 base runners gunned down attempting steals. In fact, the Portland team has had 8 consecutive guys thrown out attempting to steal a base since their last successful attempt which occurred in the team's second game of the season. The aforementioned Cortez is 0 for his last 4 in stolen base attempts.

"We had a conversation, everything is squared away" said Fiscus in a brief statement after the game. "Pedro and myself talked about what needs to be done on the field moving forward for this team to be successful. We are all ready to move forward."

The Lumberjacks are 2 for 10 on the season in stolen base attempts in 2045. Let's see if those numbers improve or don't change at all in the upcoming weeks.
