First off, the newly legalized BBA Sportsbook opened this week and presented odds for every BBA team in regards to winning the Landis Title as well as the over/under in win totals. The sportsbook gave Portland the longest odds at 150/1 to win the Landis in 2045. Only Portland's Canadian rival in Vancouver was faced with those odds by book makers. Book makers also projected Portland to win 63 games in 2045, a decrease from last season. That total would prevent the Lumberjacks from losing 100 games however.
Sports betting analyst, Karen Rovell, had this to say on twitter.
Rovell went on to explain her reasoning in a separate tweet
Rovell concluded her twitter rant against Portland by stating "fans of the Lumberjacks should stay away from their Landis odds. Spend your money elsewhere or just flush it down the toilet if you are so inclined."
Meanwhile, league reporters are on board with Rovell's sentiments. One rival general manager in the league predicted the Lumberjacks to finish the season with 67 wins, stating:
Meanwhile, the league's annual media guide predicted the Lumberjacks to win 64 games, stating:I don't think this team is as strong as last year, but I'm not sure if they will finish in last place. As Valencia just traded Aaron Haney, that's a lot less wins for a division rival. The Lumberjacks have an interesting mix of young prospects and veterans. Whether they avoid the last place spot will ultimately depend whether someone like Gallagher hits a breakout season. Otherwise, they will be fighting for the last place spot. @StormZ_23
Portland is taking it slow, and they can afford to take it slow. At this point, Portland is the water at the bottom of the ocean, but they might have just enough on the roster to keep them slightly floatatious. @aaronweiner
Both projections had Portland finishing 7th in the Pacific, ahead of Valencia in the final standings.
Of course all of this didn't stop one "fan" from posting to social media...
Let's see how this all plays out!!!
