We Got Wood - 45.10 - Rule 5 Find

With the Portland roster moving and shaking more than a certain AGM's body on a treadmill, the Lumberjacks front office managed to find a Rule 5 pick lurking in the BBA weeds that the club is pretty excited about signing. In the wee hours of the night last night, the Lumberjacks drafted Anibal Gracia off of the Charm City Jimmies roster. Gracia will now have to remain on Portland's roster for the entirety of the 2045 season or risk being sent back to Maryland.
"We are extremely happy with our drafting of Gracia in the Rule 5 draft" commented Lumberjacks assistant general manager Kate Fiscus. "It's not every day you can pick up a player with the kind of pop in his bat that Gracia provides. It is also not every day you get a guy in the Rule 5 that has more power, most likely anyway, than anyone else on your entire roster. Now we just have to hope the rookie can perform on the big league stage."
The 24 year old Gracia played in 79 games last season with a Double A team out of High Point where he hit an impressive .319/.386/.637 with an even more impressive 32 homeruns and 93 runs batted in. This led to a 4.2 WAR a season after he produced a 4.1 WAR the prior season with High Point. Gracia has floated back and forth between Double-A and Triple-A over much of the last 2 to 3 seasons. He did get a very brief sip of coffee with the Bluebirds in Nashville back in 2042. By brief, we mean he played in 3 games and saw 6 total at-bats. Gracia is still waiting for his first big league hit, though he did score a run and drew a pair of walks during that stint with the Bluebirds.
Portland manager Pedro Medina will now be charged with the task of finding Gracia a place to play in the Portland outfield that is becoming heavily log jammed due to recent trades. Portland now estimates around 7 or 8 guys that are currently on the roster who will need time in the outfield. This all most likely means that new AGM Mrs. Kate Fiscus isn't done dealing just yet!
