We Got Wood - 45.07 - Turmoil Already in Portland FO?

It's been several weeks since the Lumberjacks hired the BBA's first female Assistant General Manager Kate Fiscus and very little news has surfaced out of Portland since the ground shattering hire. However, with free agency and the off-season underway, some news is surfacing from unknown sources that some turmoil has erupted from inside the team's war room over how to handle the off-season.

Everyone, from owner David Wallace, GM Chris Wilson, AGM Kate Fiscus, to even manager Pedro Medina, declined any comment and denied any thing going on that is remotely troublesome within the front office team. But that still hasn't stopped reports from surfacing. Details are shady at the moment, but it appears there are two main controversies bubbling up.

The first is over the surfacing of the team's Master Plan TM in recent weeks. The media got their hands on a copy and have been releasing tidbits of that in recent days. There are some reports that this was intentional by someone within the team. Some are saying it was never meant to be seen by anyone outside the organization. And then there are others, like Wilson in recent and past interviews, saying that "this was part of the Master Plan TM all along. It was a 5-year process and we're already at year 5." It is still unknown whether this was a mistake or intentional by someone within the front office. There are even some reports the team is ready for another plan, and who gets to name the new plan has caused disturbances in the meetings.

The second controversy has reportedly led to several bigger blow ups within the meetings. It appears that some within the front office want to further the building of the franchise and trade off key, young pieces like Robert Menzies, Pedro Gomez, Francisco Franco, and Gusby Pinkerton. These front office members are citing the team isn't ready to contend right now and should load up on prospects for these inexpensive stars. On the flip side, others in the front office are clamoring that the team can be competitive and are citing the team's final month of the 2044 season in which it won 18 games to 8 losses that the team is on the verge of a .500 push. And that trading away it's corps of young stars now could demoralize the fan base to the point that regaining fans in the future could be tough and financially devastating to the organization as a whole. "We'd be Wichita part two if we traded those guys" was a quote overheard by the source of these reports.

So while it is unclear what Fiscus' role still is with this team, it does appear she has caused a stir within the team's off-season meetings and is pushing for the team to do something.
