History was made in 2040 when the city of Portland and the state of Oregon was given an expansion franchise. History was made again today when team owner David Wallace, joined by General Manager Chris Wilson, announced that the Lumberjacks organization would be hiring the first female assistant general manager in the history of the Brewster Baseball Association*.

"It's a historical day, not only for the Portland organization, but also for the Brewster Baseball Association" announced team owner David Wallace at today's press conference. It's hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the 21st Century and no one has hired a female representative in this league yet. Well, we are kicking down that door. We are proud to announce that Mrs. Kate Fiscus will be our new assistant general manager in Portland."

The hiring of Fiscus comes just days after the previous AGM, Ted Dunn, watched as his contract expired without an extension. Dunn, who was hired midway through the inaugural season of 2040 in Portland, had spent the full 4.5 years with the organization. Despite having a hand in some decisions over that time, he was never approached to stay on with the organization. Dunn was a pivotal member of helping build 4 minor league championships during his time, but big league success in Portland during his time never materialized.

"We hate to see Ted leave, but we've been grooming Kate for quite some time to make this move" added team General Manager Chris Wilson. "She's no stranger to the league and how things work. She's been hard at work shaping and molding our organization over the last few seasons. While she's not been an official employee with the Lumberjacks, she has been playing a role with us. She's been an invaluable source of intel over the last few years as well as really doing great work with our minor league boys. She's played huge roles in helping our young guys with getting through slumps and help with mental issues they have had. We couldn't be more pleased to have her on board officially in Portland."

For the unfamiliar, Kate Fiscus, previously Kate Shrimpton, has been around the BBA for quite a while. Pun intended and unintended. Kate began her career as the daughter of Madison Wolves owner, the late Mick Shrimpton. She was the Secretary under then GM Chris Wilson. She would go on to marry former AGM of the Wolves, Dan Fiscus, where she she even had a hand in playing AGM for a time.. She survived her husband being shot and being a drug addict. She's even Slept with the wrong Joe from Boise, uncovered a plot to create a new league, tried to nab a 6-fingered prospect from a rival, and uh, there's also that Hellscape hook-up. And let us not forget HHer Kookies.

To say she's deserved the promotion at this point might be an understatement!

*We think. No fact checking was done.

I saw "Dunn Out" in the headline and panicked. But yay for Fiscus, I had heard she's been around the league.

To say that Kate has “been around” might be an understatement.

I’ve had this in mind for a while. Was just waiting on Dunn’s contract to expire to make the move. I figure it gives me story lines if the team sucks to write about.
