In an attempt to find something of note to talk about with this team late in the season, let's focus on just how dreadful the Lumberjacks have been on the road this season? With 105 games played this season, Portland has the worst record away from home in the Brewster Baseball Association. At 16-42 on the season, the club can't even finish .500 away from the home confines despite still having 23 games left on the road. All of this comes as an even bigger let down considering the team is playing rather well at home, posting a winning record in games played at The Trail in Multnomah, home of the Lumberjacks.

While some find it puzzling how a team can play so much drastically worse on the road compared to at home, Lumberjacks GM had his own theory.

"Have you seen some of these dumps and poduck towns we play in" chimed in the outspoken Wilson. "Who wants to play in Des Moines, where the outfield wall looks like corn stalks. Shit, let me apologize to Des Moines. I shouldn't call them out that way. The Heartland division is just filled with dreadful sites to play baseball in. Except for maybe Nashville. Some good music and bars to hit up while there. But, really. Yellow Springs, Ohio? And don't even get me started on some of these places in our own division. Do I even need to bad mouth Vancouver any more?"

Some players however have a different theory as to the team's road problems. "Perhaps if the front office would put us up in nicer hotels as opposed to the random Motel 6s we stay in, we'd play better" commented one unnamed source. "Having 50 team personnel schmucking it up with the family on a road trip through Madison while eating continental breakfast in the motel lobby doesn't exactly get the road juices flowing if you know what I mean."

Regardless of what the issue is, Portland sucks on the road.

Does Kate travel with the team on road trips? Maybe she should start.

And if she does, well, maybe she should stop.
