We Got Wood - 42.41 - We'll Take .500 All Day!

Yeah we are still at that point where a .500 sim makes us happy. If those hold for the rest of the season we'd not lose 100 games for the first time in franchise history. As we approach the final sim of the first half of the season, the Lumberjacks are winners of 5 of their last 8 and have owned the Hawaii Tropics of late.

Scores
8-7 WIN at Hawaii
12-3 LOSS at Hawaii
6-3 WIN at Hawaii
5-3 WIN vs Omaha
4-3 LOSS vs Omaha
9-6 LOSS vs Valencia

The 2 wins vs Hawaii put us at 5-3 against the Tropics over the last couple of weeks. Yeah, "owning" may be a strong word when describing Portland's play over Hawaii, but hey, it's a winning record for us of late agaisnt someone. So we gotta go with it.

Mario Guerrer
It's a bitter sweet sim for Guerrer. On the one hand, he gets our player of the sim award after hitting .261/.320/.696 with 3 homeruns and 6 runs batted in. He hit a homerun in 3 straight games ranging from the last Hawaii win through the Omaha series. The negative however is that he tore a thumb ligament in the loss versus the Stars and will now miss the next 5 weeks. Losing our main offensive threat may severely hurt our chances at 63 wins this season.

Ray Verhoeve
Have I elevated my standards so much that I'm giving the SSSS award to a pitcher who actually recorded a 1-0 record? That's right! Time to up the ante in Portland. But Ray wasn't that good. In the 8-7 win vs Hawaii, Ray got the win despite allowing 6 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks in 5.2 innings pitched. He did strike out 7. In his second start, he got a no decision after allowing 6 runs on 5 hits and a walk in 4.2 innings pitched. So add it up: 10.1 IP, 12 runs, 12 hits, 4 walks, 8 Ks. Those aren't good stats!
