Just days after announcing the club was demoting 2041 manager Jose Aicon to the rookie league, team officials announced today they had come to an agreement for a manager in 2042. Pedro Medina was announced at a brief press conference today as the Lumberjacks 3rd manager in 3 seasons in Portland.

Team officials spoke briefly about the hiring of Medina today as the team is quickly prepping for its trip south to Tempe for Spring Training. Wilson stated "we are pleased with the hiring of Pedro as our next manager. He has a lot of work to do to figure out the best way to use this roster, but he has experience managing at this level and feel he can do the job."

Medina, a former bench coach in Hawaii and brief manager in Long Beach, knows the Frick League Pacific well. "He's been in the division for all 6 of his coaching seasons" added Wilson. "He's young [44] and ready to take on the challenge that is turning this team into a winner."

As mentioned, Medina has experience coaching and managing from within the division, having spent 4 seasons with Hawaii as a bench coach and parts of the last two seasons with Long Beach as it's manager. After coming on part way through the 2040 season, he helped lead the Long Beach Surfers to the post-season with a wild card win, going 62-43 over his 105 games managed that season. However, Medina was fired early last season over what the Surfers front office felt was a Mismanagement of the Bullpen.

"We talked with Medina and agree with his bullpen strategy" concluded Wilson. "Besides our bullpen ranked 12th of the 15 Frick League teams last season, so how much worse could Medina be? We'll take our chances with his knowledge of the division."

Medina signed the highest paid contract thus far for a Lumberjacks manager, a 5 year, $834,000 a year contract.

I've tried this before and have had guys refuse demotion. Was really shocked that Aicon accepted a demotion from the BBA all the way down to the Rookie League.

First statement not correct - It's in Oregon.

Second statement probably accurate cause I don't know where at in Oregon but I assume the cost of living is probably low in a town like Bend!
