In what has been a rapid start to the free agent season, the Portland Lumberjacks front office announced today that they were in on a couple of free agent pitchers one has decided to sign elsewhere this past week while the other is still in play. In an effort to improve the Lumberjacks pitching in 2041, the recent news is a step back after the positive news of signing Feliciano Rafael.

"We were in on Chet Parrish but he's opted to sign with Atlantic City instead" commented Lumberjacks General Manager Chris Wilson. "We really felt Parrish was another low risk type guy that we could have used to build a better rotation next season. We'll have to dig deeper into Free Agency now and see if there is much left after a flurry of big deals the last few weeks."

Wilson would not get into much detail about who else the team is after but did say they had another offer on a starting pitcher. Considering the team finished dead last in runs allowed last season, acquiring any helpful pitching wouldn't be a bad thing. As things stand right now, Eduardo Reyes would start the season as the team's number 2 starter behind Rafael.

"Yeah, we need some more options, even if they're warty ones at this point" commented Wilson. "We'll keep digging and continue to improve."
