We Got Wood - 40.37 - They Came, We Saw, We Kicked Some Ass

Perhaps when the Portland-Vancouver rivalry was getting booted up by General Manager Chris Wilson late last season when news surfaced he was leaving Madison to be at the helm of the expansion team in Portland, he envisioned a different scenario than how things have played out. Being 2-5 against the Mounties was surely not what he had expected, in fact, he wasn't too pleased when the Lumberjacks lost 2 of 3 against Vancouver in Portland earlier season. After losing 3 of 4 against Vancouver this week, again in Portland, many expected Wilson to be very unhappy. But that doesn't seem to be the case.
"They came, we saw, we kicked their ass" screamed Wilson before heading on a plane to go to the all-star week festivities that followed the 4 game set against Vancouver.
Rather than focusing on the fact the Lumberjacks lost 3 games in the series, Wilson appeared only focused on the fact that the Lumberjacks laid the smackdown on the Mounties in a 14-4 route in the Sunday action. After trailing 4-3 after 5, many fans had to fear the worst but the sticks came alive and the Lumberjacks scored 4, 2, and 5 runs respectively over their final 3 at-bats to cruise to victory.
"They just can't sweep us" said Jon Mick as he boarded the same plane as Wilson. "We showed them Sunday who was boss. It'll be a lot more ass kickings as we go for sure!"
Wilson had little more to say about the season series against Vancouver and the game itself. But when asked about the upcoming 7 matchups with the Mounties in August and September, he responded "we're looking forward to those games. Rivarly games are always fun. But to have to play them 7 times in a row in that vial, shit hole of a city is enough to make my stomach turn. We've been trying to get some Portland fans to drive up and attend, we hear there are plenty of seats empty up there, but so far no one likes the idea of heading up there. And who can blame them really? I'd rather stay home too, but I'm committed to going I suppose."
