Portland owner David Wallace went on a trip this weekend and while away announced the location of the Portland Lumberjacks' rookie league affiliate.

"Well, I didn't exactly go far" Wallace said. "I took a trip into the interior of the state and was trying to build up publicity for our team. With several teams in the area to choose from I want to make sure that fans of the state of Oregon are on board with the Lumberjacks and I felt a good way to do that was to bring some of the young player into the state. We have to compete with Seattle, Boise, and all the California teams for fans in the area. Not so much Vancouver because they suck. But these people have predetermined aliances to teams. We need to steal those alliances and bring fans to our side. So, we opted to place our rookie League team in Bend, Oregon."

Bend is approximately three and a half hours south east from Portland. The nickname will be the Wild Things and team colors will be red, white, and blue.

"It's exciting to have our rookie league team so close" said Wallace. "We think it's great for the fans because most organizations send their top draft picks to rookie league early on. Fans will get introduced to some future hopefuls early on and then hope to come back again one day and see them in a Lumberjacks uniform. And since the rookie league team doesn't start its season until later in the year, fans won't be torn from coming into Portland early on in the season to check out the Lumberjacks because there is also a rookie league game as well."

As for the location of the remaining farm, Wallace concluded "We intend to have a Double-A, Single-A, and Short season affiliate spread around the country. We feel that it will only be a matter of time before everyone in the country is a fan of Portland so we want everyone to have a little taste.

Wallace concluded the announcement by unveiling the team's uniforms.
