The Charlotte Flyers have announced that Tony Giles has been hired as the new pitching coach for the organization’s Short A team, the Adirondack Beavers. The role was previously held by Héctor Fuentes, who was brought on just a year ago.
Giles was claimed off of waivers early in the 2056 season and pitched with Charlotte from that time until May of 2058, when he last played in the BBA.
Giles appeared in 99 games with Charlotte, winning 7, losing 9, and saving 17. He served as the team’s primary closer in 2057, leading the club with 15 saves in 18 opportunities. Giles was always seen as a very bright baseball mind, and should translate well into a coaching role.
Giles is looking forward to the opportunity. “I think I have a lot to offer the young guys. I’m looking forward to helping them learn to be the best versions of themselves. I want to see how many of these kids I can help find their way to the big league club some day.”
