In what has become an annual tradition, the Charlotte Flyers off to an abysmal start to the season. The team has announced a number of roster decisions two weeks into the campaign.
Rule 5 acquisition Zee-loo Tsao has been returned to Montreal after appearing in 1 game, failing to reach base in 2 at bats.
Rule 5 acquisition Floyd Turner has been returned to Twin Cities after appearing in 2 games, allowing 7 hits and 5 earned runs in just 2.2 innings.
The team is adding two relief pitchers to the roster to replace the returned Rule 5 players.
Wayne Lambert, who pitched well in 3 appearances with the big league club last year and Pedro Martinez, who has pitched 6 times in AAA this season with an ERA of 1.93 will join the struggling Charlotte bullpen for Monday's game.
General manager Nathan Garrison had this to say about the moves. "We're hoping this helps us be able to provide a little more support to our pitching staff, allowing Eduardo Moreno to get proper rest between appearances."
