This is the fifth article in my series detailing the top prospects in my organization. This article will cover my top shortstop prospects.
1 The top shortstop prospect on the list is Tommy Anderson. The 21 year old was selected in the 5th round of the 2060 draft. He has pretty much reached his potentials of 5/5/6/4. He has 9 infield range, 5 error, 7 arm, and 7 turn DP. In his minor league career, Anderson has posted 11.1 WAR with a wRC+ of 123 in 274 games. This season, his first in AA, he got off to a slow start (.634 OPS in his first 77 games) but came on strong later in the year (.824 OPS in his last 55 games). Anderson hit 23 doubles, 2 triples, and 14 home runs in 132 games. Eight of those home runs came from July to the end of the year.
2 The next prospect on the list is Wally Willis. Originally drafted in the 13th round of the 2055 draft, Willis was never considered much of a prospect until recently. He has almost fully reached his potentials of 5/5/5/6, with just his power sitting slightly below at 4. His 8 infield range might be on the low side for a shortstop but he also has 8 error, 7 arm, and 8 turn DP. He has put up solid defensive statistics at short in the minors but spent a lot of this year learning second and third, where he should be an above average defender. He split the 2062 season between AA and AAA. In 64 AA games, he slashed .283/.396/.429 with a wRC+ of 127. He was less successful in AAA, slashing .253/.335/.347 with a 79 wRC+ in 73 games. He could potentially be a useful utility man now, but if he can get a bump or two, he could become something more.
3 The final player on this list is Frederico Duncan. He was taken in the 8th round of the 2059 draft. He probably needs a range bump, currently sitting at 9, but he has played good defense in the minors at both second and short. He also has the skills to play corner outfield positions well. Offensively, his current and potential ratings are 5/4/2/4, which are obviously not great. He has played at the rookie, short A, and A levels in his pro career. This year, he played 79 games with level A Danville, slashing .293/.355/.384, good for a 104 wRC+ and 1.7 WAR.

That sneaky "6" power could combine with a fair enough glove to make him one of those upper half guys that flies under the radar screen because of the 45 Overall. Good wheels should only help.

Yeah. With a little defensive bump he could look a lot like Lucio Guevara ratings wise.
