Jorge Trujillo continued his excellent season this week and was recognized by the league for his efforts. Trujillo was named the Johnson League Player of the week for the week of June 22-28.
Trujillo came to the plate 24 times this week. He had 10 hits, including 2 doubles and 5 home runs. He also increased his league leading RBI total to 83 by driving in 11 runs in 7 games. Trujillo is on the top 10 leaderboards in the Johnson League for many offensive categories, including SLG, ISO, wRC, Hits, doubles, and home runs, along with the previously mentioned RBI.
Jorge Trujillo was never considered a top prospect by the OSA but he has made a strong impression in his brief time in the BBA. After an uninspiring first few games late in 2058, Trujillo played 55 games with the Flyers last year and put up a wRC+ of 117. This season, he has taken his game to another level. At the midpoint of the season, Trujillo has already produced 2.5 WAR with a wRC+ of 151. Fans in Charlotte are excited to see what he does during the remainder of the campaign.
