In this edition of Flight School, we take a look at the top prospects in the Charlotte Flyers farm system at the position of Second Base.

.
The top second base prospect is Oliver Kyle. An international scouting find out of New Zealand, Kyle will need to see some positive development bumps to turn into someone who can really have an impact offensively. Defensively, he could provide some value. His skill set includes versatility that could make him a solid utility man with the glove. He is only 16 and still very green. It will be a long time before we see what he becomes.

The next prospect is also in the International Complex and has a long way to go to realize his potential. Orlando Arevalo looks like he has the best hit tool of any of these prospects but his defense does not look as promising. It may be a stretch to think that he will still be playing second base when he gets to rookie ball in a year or two.

The last prospect we will discuss is Pablo Vasquez. Since being drafted in the 18th round in 2057, Vasquez has played well in the low levels of the Charlotte system. He has played solid defense at second, third, and short. He does still need to work on becoming a better fielder to consistently provide defensive value at the big league level, but the early results have been solid. In 100 games at the rookie level, Vasquez has slashed .366/.424/.514 with a wRC+ of 159. His first 12 games at short A were not as impressive, but he did post a batting average of .273 with 7 walks in 52 plate appearances.Scouts don’t see a lot to get excited about with Vasquez.
